  39. RAAF WOOMERA CIVIL WORKS

    The work under the Contract consists of:

    The scope of works includes residential and airside pavement remediation within the Woomera Base Areas and Woomera Village .

    5. Remediation and repair of existing culvert structures
    6. Kerb and gutter, spoon drain and crossover replacement

    Miscellaneous Works

    1. Kerb Patching and Drainage Structure Repair and Maintenance
      • Repair and maintenance works of structures including kerb patching and drainage culverts is to be undertaken as per the drawings. Minor and Major Crack Repair is to be undertaken as per the below methodology.
    2. Minor Crack Repair Specification
      • Grind along cracks, forming a minimum 3 x 3mm groove, and approximately 20-30mm either side to roughen surface.
      • Apply Fosroc Nitomortar AP paste (or approved equivalent), in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions, to the formed grooves and approximately 20-30mm either side of the groove.
    3. Major Patch Repair Specification
      • Remove all loose and delaminated concrete.
      • Saw cut or cut back the extremities of the repair location to a minimum depth of at least of 10mm to avoid feathering and to provide square edge. Break out the repair area to a minimum depth of 5mm up to the sawn edge.
      • Where reinforcement is exposed, jack-hammer concrete behind the reinforcement to achieve 20mm gap at the back of the reinforcement. This is to provide full cover and bond between the reinforcement and the repair mortar.
      • Grit blast the exposed reinforcement to class 2.5.
      • Clean the surface again. Remove any dust or any contaminated material.
      • Prime concrete and reinforcement surface with Sika Top-110 EpoCem (or approved equivalent). To avoid secondary rusting, prime the reinforcement immediately after the grit blasting. If the reinforcement is already rusted, clean the reinforcement again by second (lighter) grit blasting and prime with 110 EpoCem.
      • After the primer becomes “tacky”, build–up the concrete wall with Sika MonoTop-615HB repair mortar. Use the repair mortar strictly in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications. Note that the minimum applied
      • thickness of MonoTop-615HB is 10mm. If the thickness of the repair mortar is greater than 80mm, the repair mortar should be applied on layers not exceeding 80mm each.
      • The repaired mortar shall be cured for at least 72 hours after placement.
      • Coat the repair mortar with two coats of Sika Top -107 Seal. Extend coating 200mm minimum beyond the edges of the repair patch. This coat is to provide waterproof layer above the repair mortar which will allow the repair mortar to gain strength even when submerged. The minimum cure period for Sika Top-107 Seal is 72 hours.

    SUPPLY OF MATERIALS All materials shall be supplied by the Contractor.
