Design & Construct of 13 Room elderly Accommodation, plus Installation of services for Subdivision of residential lots
Pormpuraaw currently does not have an accommodation facility to cater to the needs of the elderly within the community. The Independent Living Facility seeks to address this issue and provide the elderly with a place to live where they have more access to support services, a place of their own and can remain living within the community. The ILF will be required to serve the following purposes: Comfortable, accessible and appropriate living accommodation for the elderly community members Secure, access-controlled facility to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the occupants Open, comfortable indoor and outdoor areas for structured & unstructured relaxation and activities Living and working accommodation for an on-site manager.
The primary functional areas within the ILF are:
- Reception/ Welcome Area – visitor welcome and access control into the facility. A lockable roller door shutters are to be utilised and positioned within the duty staff member office. An after-hours contact sign is to be placed on the external wall as well as the front gate.
- Staff/ Duty accommodation – toilet, laundry (to be shared with the common room area) and breakroom for staff members use during overnight duties. (Subject to change if a permanent staff member is required)
- Indoor common area – to accommodate up to 16 residents plus limited visitors. Must include a television area, lounge area, ablutions and kitchenette/dining area.
- Outdoor common area – to accommodate up to 16 residents plus limited visitors. Must include permanently located outdoor fire pit of suitable design and material for durability, accessible garden/shaded area and outdoor seating located throughout.
5 Duplexes – Each duplex is to consist of 2 units, where each unit is to include a single bedroom (for a couple), TV area, dining area, kitchen facilities, bathroom and outdoor seating. One duplex is to accommodate 3 units as outlined in Enclosure
