Electrical Earthing Upgrades to Woomera RAAF Base

The Woomera base is supplied by a single overhead 132kV Transmission Line from the Electranet Network. The 132kV supply is then stepped down to 33kV and 11kV voltages before being reticulated across the Woomera base.

As part of the earthing assessment for the Woomera project, the following have been assessed;

  • TATS Substation
  • Various Pole Top Transformer Substations across the Woomera base

A 132kV phase to earth fault from Electranet will cause the TATS earth grid and nearby conductive objects (including the soil) to rise in voltage and therefore an earth grid design study is required to demonstrate compliance of the existing installation, as detailed within this report. A similar assessment is required for the 33kV and 11kV infrastructure of the project for the various existing pole top substations across the Woomera base
